Treyarch producing a next-gen CoD?

treyarch_logo_large

Various websites are speculating on the news of Treyarch working on a new installment of the Call of Duty for a new console. This is all based on a recent recruitment call, via its official website, advertising for the position of a senior software engineer. The blurb states the successful applicant will join "the team bringing our hugely successful game to a new console" and the role will include adapting "graphics and other major systems in our engine to a new platform". Treyarch expects each candidate to have some level of experience on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 consoles.

Many believe this automatically means the new Call of Duty will be released on next-gen consoles, Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4, or whatever they may be called. However they do seem to completely neglect any possibility that the game may be a port for the PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS and/or Wii U. In my opinion these three systems seem the more obvious choice as each CoD title comes out anually, but perhaps the studio has already upped tools on the next round of hardware from Microsoft and Sony.

Treyarch hasn't announced details of its next Call of Duty title but expect it to launch in November 2012.
