Lately every game developer seems to be jumping on the HD remake band wagon by revisiting their old titles in order to bring them back to life with stunning new graphics they didnt have the first time around. So it was nice to learn some great games will not follow suit. Atleast that's what we thought as Nintendo apparantly have plans to remake Zelda: A link to the Past but...in 3D.
Speaking with GamesRadar, Eiji Aonuma stated "Mr. Miyamoto himself has been talking recently about going back to the 2D Zelda games" further adding "In particular, the ones that were designed with multiple levels to the world like A Link to the Past, and taking those 2D graphics and recreating them in 3D so that you could get a sense for the depth of those worlds".
To me this news is bitter sweet as Zelda: A link to the Past is one of best Zelda titles ever made it does fall into the category of the many other games Nintendo have remade for the protable 3DS system, one of which is already Ocarina of Time. Although Aonuma states it would be a full 3D recreation of 2D graphics, thus atleast having the appeareance of a brand new game, the jury is still out as inevitably the announcement has divided fans into two camps, the 'YES DO IT, DO IT NOW' camp and those who are screaming out for Nintendo to actually make new games for the 3DS instead of remakes
