Our friend Reggie Fils-Anime, well not really our friend here at UFO Gamers because we have never met the man but he has been very vocal as of late, is back to tell gamers the release of the Wii-U does not signal the death the Wii. In fact he believes the two consoles can "coexist for some time. As we [Nintendo] drive the install base of Wii, we're really setting people up to take their gaming library and be able to transfer it over to Wii U," like one big happy family.

In an interview with
Time magazine the Nintendo executive explained that the Wii is still performing well, and reaching a new audience of gamers at its lowest price point to date. "The consumer buying Wii hardware today is going to be a different consumer than the one who will be buying Wii U in the future," he added. "This is the first holiday that the Wii is available at $149.99 or below, so it's an expanded demographic we're reaching. These are consumers who have heard about Wii for the past couple years, but at $199 or $249 it was economically out of their reach."
When asked about how much of a dent the forthcoming Wii U console will put into the consumer's wallets, Fils-Aime declined to comment as a price is yet to be confirmed but did say, "you can definitely expect that pricing is going to be different and that the games are going to be different." The phrase 'no shit, Sherlock' springs to mind.
Fils-Aime also went onto to discuss
Zelda: Skyward Sword and his views on the future of handheld gaming. You can read the full interview by clicking the source link below.
