Falling out

It's been a while since I wrote a blog, so, while my laptop transfers last night's podcast audio files from my 2gb CompactFlash card (other media formats are available), I thought I could give you a little update on what's going on at the moment.

Happy Hallowe'en, by the way!  It's today, in case you're reading this in mid-November wondering what the fuck I'm talking about.  This morning, I missed my train to work because, seeing the clouds looking all heavy with rain, I decided it might be an idea to sew the hole in my bag up.  I keep my laptop in my bag and the last thing I want to find when I get into the office is my trusty lappers floating around in a pool of rainwater among several receipts, sample sachets of moisturiser and whatever other crap you'll find within the dark recesses of my bag.

Thinking it would be a two-minute job, I sat down and began to sew and it dawned on me that this was going to take a while.  It took about fifteen minutes, somehow, since I was trying to get a really good, tight seal and I left the house at about ten to nine thinking I could go into town and pick up Fallout 3.  This I did, getting into the queue in Game and waiting patiently for assistance.  I asked the nearly-cute young man for the game and our exchange went a bit like this:

"Would you like it on 360 or PS3."

"What's the difference?"

"You'll get more downloadable content on the 360, but better graphics on the PS3."

"Hmmm…

"I'll go for the 360 then, please."

"Would you like the exclusive version, it comes with a figurine."

"Oh, go on then."

You've got to admit that exclusivity isn't what it used to be, is it.  The only thing you had to do to get this exclusive package was to correctly answer a simple question, that being, "would like the exclusive version?"

I don't even know why I said yes.  I don't want a little figurine of the gas mask dude, unless it asks "are you my mummy" when you press a button (it doesn't).  I'll probably end up giving that away as a prize on the UFO site, I'm sure someone'll want it.

The UFO site is going well, all in all.  We still definitely need more readers, but really, we're just getting started and building up this nice amount of solid news content, our podcast is going to be a bit more relevant to gaming and when people see more and more reviews building up in that section, I'm sure more visitors will become members and get involved.  I'm really enjoying the podcasts as well, but my only gripe is that members don't get involved enough!  Sure, too many people attending the recording will screw things up royally; we've had that on TeamSpeak, where you just can't hear yourself think because there are so many people on, but there are other ways to get involved, it's not just about being there.  There's email, a forum thread, the podcast phone-in button, Ask LorD, texting in to SHaDOS and I guess the more people join the more people will do it, but it has to start somewhere!
